Advisory for Property Taxpayers Mailing Tax Payments: USPS policy change on postmarks may affect tax payments. In August 2025, the U.S. Postal Service changed when postmarks are affixed to incoming mail. Instead of being affixed when the item is first received by the post office, postmarks are now stamped at regional sorting centers. Please be aware that this change may affect when your envelope containing your tax payment is postmarked. Property tax payments received by mail are considerd timely based off of the USPS postmark. To avoid a tax payment becoming delinquent due to the postmark change, consider the following options: If you plan to pay your property taxes by mail, mail your payment earlier, or, use a service such as certified mail. Make a payment in-person during the hours of M-Th 9am-3pm, and Fridays 11am-2pm through January 30th, except for holidays. Online payment can be made here: https://townofmerrimac.net/taxes-property-info/
